Year in and year out, the majority of participants in AEDC’s EAP training program are women entrepreneurs or business owners. AEDC’s market niche is to provide services to improve the contributions of minorities, women, and socially and economically disadvantaged small businesses to the North Country economy.
We have helped hundreds of businesses get their start by providing both individualized technical assistance and classroom training designed to give entrepreneurs, and would-be entrepreneurs, the skills needed to develop workable business plans – and the tools necessary to successfully execute those plans.
Access to capital continues to be the single largest challenge for many of our small businesses, particularly M/WBEs. Most lending institution usually do not lend to a start-up business. Even existing businesses are having a difficult time obtaining funding from traditional lending institutions. The primary incentive for successfully completing the training we provide is that it improves the likelihood of receiving business startup financing through one of AEDCs current loan programs.
